HISTORY

Arabs, Turcs, Andalus, Italians and the French. We can say that the rich culture of Tunisia comes basically from this mix of population.

JERBA
In the 2nd century, Romans settled down in Meninx, to which they gave the name of Jerba (during the 3rd century). This island remained for nearly 5 centuries a hub between Africa and Europe and was one of the most important trading place in the Mediterranean : in Jerba were stored the ivory goods, as well as gold, austriche feathers and all kind of treasures coming from South Sahara, before being sold to Carthage, Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, etc.
Today, Jerba is a main touristic center in Tunisia
is the most visited island in the Mideterranean.
DOUZ ‘’the Gate of the desert’’
More than a common place, Douz is a center of attraction for all desert lovers.
Crossroads between Oasis dwellers and nomads, Douz is a meeting point.
The market of the cattle and especially that of the dromaderies is unique in all Tunisia.
The people are active and welcoming. The palm gardens are in full expansian.
Between the vastness of Chott El Djerit and the dunes without end, from the Great Eastern Erg, the Oasis of Douz is occupies a privileged place.
